I like lists. They help me organise my mind, thoughts and plans. Sometimes I forget all about them, and sometimes I don’t. January has started and the winter hibernation mode is on, which is good but also easy to get a bit lost in with the long nights and few hours of daylight. It can be a very draining month. But luckily the ground is covered with half a meter of snow and it’s beautiful, still and bright, and we’re forced to slow down. January can be a the perfect winter month too, and here are 8 things I look forward to this month.

- Travelling to Rwanda to visit friends. I’m leaving on a jetplane from Bergen to Schiphol and then all the way to Kigali, where I will stay for over two weeks. I’ve never been there before and very much look forward to the day light, what the night sky looks like and feel the air on my skin. Warmer weather. Friends and a new climate.
- Go skiing. There’s a lot of snow here now and I want to go both cross-country skiing and slalom. Maybe this weekend?
- Peaceful protest for nature on Sunday. On Sunday at 4pm there will be bonfires at about seventy cairns in this region to protest new big high voltage masts, which will build down nature in this region. Seventy bonfires is a lot and I think it will be an emotionally intense and powerful experience with a strong message to the people who shouldn’t have the power to make this decision.
- I want to start practicing the bass and guitar again. I’ve not played for a few weeks now over the holidays. I’ve been overwhelmed and found excuses to not practise, which is silly as practicing and playing music is such a fun thing to do. Now I’m ready to have fun.
- Yoga with Adriene’s 7-Day Yoga Series. I love her YT channel and yoga classes. The videos are peaceful and calming. More yoga in my life please!
- Morning coffees overlooking the winter landscape.
- Feeding the birds in the mornings. They’re winter fluffy now with beautiful feathers and small, round bodies. There are mostly Robins, Bullfinches, Willow Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit and Nuthatches and I learn new things about birds almost every time I bring them nuts and seeds. I love living next to a forest!
- Baby, it’s cold outside, so finally I can wear proper cold weather winter clothes. Nothing beats having put on just the right amount of woollen winter clothes when being outdoors. Makes it so much more enjoyable ❤
