Goodbye 2024

It’s New Year’s Eve and I’m at home in our house in the woods. The windows face the village so I have a good view of the fireworks. It snowed today and the driveway is covered with a thick layer of snow. It feels good to stay at home and watch the fireworks.

2024 was a challenging year with a lot to handle and deal with. Too much at times. But lessons have been learned, and being here, healthy and alive, safe from war and natural disasters, is a true blessing. I’ve won the lottery of life.

Hope I can remember the lessons of 2024 as we move on to 2025.

January

In January we cut down trees, non-native and intrusive spruce trees.

February

I went to Kristiansand where I attended a demonstration for Palestine and peace, and visited my sister and saw her art exhibition. Back home Ø and I went to Voss to try flying in a tunnel, which was fun. But we all have our natural elements and mine is not air.

March

It flew by quickly with work, studies and going for walks in the cold spring light.

April

Finally orienteering season again!

May

And then came May with lush green fields and flowers and beautiful rainy clouds. We prepped vegetable patches, there was SUP with friends on the fjord, working in the garden, poppies in bloom and celebrations in national costumes.

June

June – my favourite month. I worked on the album, saw beautiful sunsets over green fields and had a practical exam in music and improvisation. I painted the garden chairs and calmed down after a challenging spring.

July

July was an amazing month. The weather was good for forest walks and by tree tunnels on my way the fjord to swim and lay on the warm rocks.

August

Then came August and the nights got a little longer. I cycled to work as much as I could, free-dived and worked on the album. And Uni started again and everyday life began again.

September

We found a secret room in the garage, it was a time travel forty years back with comic books, pens from the local shops and children’s drawings. An insight to a different time. I cycled to work (I love it!), and went to Hamar for the redesign and reuse festival Fæbrikstad. Back home it was time to harvest the potatoes and be outside in the sun and warm autumn weather as much as possible.

October

October was busy. The album was finally mastered and with that a chapter ended. After work I’d practice Brazilian jiu jitsu and go rock climbing. The Northern lights danced above us and I travelled south to Uni and preparation for exams in Performance in December. I worked at incredible concerts and then got on a plane that took me to Turkey and a few days of summer.

November

November and fun early Xmas parties! But then I got sick with the flu and that was pretty much it from November.

December

Exams, rock climbing, back on my bike, photo shoot in the botanical garden in Bergen, beautiful sunsets as I cycled back home after work, practicing at home and suddenly – Christmas and a break.

Now I feel ready for 2025. I hope it will be a good year with peace, community, art, yoga and a lot of music. I hope it will be the best year so far for all of us. Much love xx!
